Library Cards

To check out materials from the Library, you need a new Sam T. Wilson Public Library Card. This card is available to everyone within the city limits of Arlington for free. All other residents of Shelby County can acquire a card for an annual fee of $50.

To get your new card, fill out a Library Card Application. ID and proof of current address are required. Customers seventeen and younger require a parent or guardian to accompany them in order to obtain a library card.


Hours of Operation
  • Sunday - CLOSED
  • Monday - 11:00am to 7:00pm
  • Tuesday - 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • Wednesday - 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • Thursday - 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • Friday - CLOSED
  • Saturday - 10:00am to 2:00pm

Loan Periods
  • New Releases - 14 or 21 days 
  • Other Books & Materials - 21 days
  • DVDs/VHS - 7 days

A maximum of 15 items may be checked out at any one time.  Items requested by another patron may not be renewed.


Rental Fees
  • Videos/DVDs - $2.00
  • Books on Tape/CD - $2.00

Late Fines & Lost Items
  • A late fine of $.10 per day, per book will be assessed for children's materials not returned by the due date.
  • A late fine of $.20 per day, per book will be assessed for adult materials not returned by the due date.
  • A late fine of $1.00 per day will be assessed for each video/DVD not returned by the due date.
  • A late fine of $.20 per day will be assessed for an audio book not returned by the due date.
  • The cost of all lost materials must be paid. Lost materials will be billed at replacement cost plus a processing fee of $5.00.

Maximum fine per item is $25.00


Payment
Fees and fines can be paid by cash or check at the Circulation Desk.

Setup an Account in iBistro
  • Go to on the On-line Catalog
  • Type your library card number in the USER ID box and the text 'changeme in the PIN box at the top of the page.
  • Click the Log into the e-library OPAC button
  • Click the My Account button
  • Click the User PIN change button
  • Type the text 'changeme' in the PIN box
  • Enter PIN of your choice in the two boxes below
  • Click the Change Pin button
