Overview
The Arlington Planning and Development Department is responsible for current and long-range planning efforts. The Town Planner reviews all applications for new commercial, residential, office and industrial development within the Town's boundaries. The Town Planner also reviews rezoning, signage, variance and non-residential building design requests.
Staff provides technical and administrative support to the Planning Commission, Design Review Committee, and the
Board of Zoning Appeals.

Revision to Public Notice
The following item originally scheduled for the November 30, 2009, Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) meeting will be heard at a later date for which public notice will be provided:
A request presented by ETI Corporation on behalf of Advent Arlington Presbyterian Church, to grant a Conditional Use Permit for an expansion of worship facilities at 6176 Chester Street, Arlington, TN 38002, which is in the RS-18 Zoning District.

The Town of Arlington Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) will meet Monday, November 30, 2009, at 6:00 P.M., at Town Hall, 5854 Airline Road, to consider the following:
A request presented by McCaskill & Associates, Inc., on behalf of Scott and Julie Woodward, to request a variance from the required front yard setback for the property located at 12319 Donnelson Road, Arlington, TN 38002, which is in the E-Estate Residential District.
A request presented by ETI Corporation on behalf of Advent Arlington Presbyterian Church, to grant a Conditional Use Permit for an expansion of worship facilities at 6176 Chester Street, Arlington, TN 38002, which is in the RS-18 Zoning District.
Public Notice
The Town of Arlington Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, December 21, 2009, at Town Hall, 5854 Airline Road, Arlington, TN, at 6:30 P.M. to consider an amendment to the Arlington Land Development Plan for properties along Walker Street, between the intersections at Quintard and Greenlee Streets.
Land Development Plan Subcommittee
The Town of Arlington Land Development Plan Subcommittee will meet, until a plan is adopted, on the third (3rd) Monday of each month following the Planning Commission Meeting, but no earlier than 7 p.m., at Town Hall, 5854 Airline Road, Arlington, TN. Design Review Committee Will Now Review Applications in the Arlington Depot Square Overlay District
On February 2, 2009, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved Ordinance 2008-14 which transfers the review authority of properties in the Arlington Depot Square Overlay District to the Design Review Committee (DRC). The DRC reviews such items as signage, exterior renovations and additions, landscaping, lighting and new construction of non-residential and multi-family residential developments.
The Board also approved an amendment to the Design Guidelines Manual by adding design guidelines for the Depot Square Overlay District. To find out more, please check out the Design Guidelines Manual.
