Senior Citizens Center
Overview
Senior Citizens Center
In the fall of 2003, the Arlington Senior Citizens Center opened to serve as a gathering place for Arlington's senior citizens. The building, which was newly constructed in the summer of 2003, is a replica of Arlington's original railroad depot station, which was known as "Withe Depot" in the late 1800's.

Senior residents gather at the center on a regular basis for coffee, meals, entertainment, and a variety of other activities. The center is located at 6265 Chester Street in the historic Depot Square area.

For information on joining the center, contact the Director, Betty Russell, at (901) 867-7698.

Mission
The Town of Arlington and the Arlington Senior Center are committed to the betterment of its seniors through the sharing of information and support. We encourage seniors to get involved in the many activities the center provides. We hope you will join us for Gentlemen's Coffee, Senior Lunch, Bingo, Quilting, Game Day, or simply fellowshipping with one another at the many events sponsored by the center.

Events
Hat Day
Check out some of the events happening at the Senior Center this summer!

June is Hat Month at the Arlington Senior Center. Make sure you wear your favorite hat at our Senior Lunch on Friday, June 12th.

The center offers a variety of speakers who discuss health care, Medicare Part D, medications, safety, and many others interesting topics. Also, we are fortunate to have Dr. Samuel Pieh, a local physical therapist, who will be coming to the Senior Center on the second Monday of every month. Dr. Pieh demonstrates the proper techniques on stretching, exercising, lifting, and sitting. He will also offer useful tips to prevent injuries and strengthen your body.

Every Tuesday morning at 9:30 am our Arlington Senior Quilters are hard at work making beautiful quilts by hand. Stop by and help out, or just watch these amazing ladies while they hand quilt on an original quilting frame. Also, if you are a member of the center we offer e-mail and internet computer classes.

One Tuesday a month, the center offers daytime Bingo sponsored by senior  resource business. Be sure to check the monthly calendar for date and time.
